SSV Medical Society News - 2023 - Volume 12 - Issue 10 Upcoming Events, Latest News, and More MEDICAL SOCIETY NEWS STAY CURRENT WITH IMPORTANT MEMBER-ONLY NEWS AND INFORMATION THANK YOU FOR YOUR SSVMS/CMA MEMBERSHIP PRESIDENT'S MESSAGE Election Season Over the past few months, I’ve written several times about SSVMS/CMA legislative and regulatory efforts. We have a great team working on those matters and have pulled down several significant victories this year, including the MCO Tax and Public Service Loan Forgiveness program. We also demonstrate strength and unity when you share your experiences on a matter; grassroots politics still works. There’s another way that SSVMS/CMA make our voices heard in the policy field. Every few years, political offices open up for election. SSVMS leadership meets with candidates for these offices (which include the U.S. House of Representatives, California State Senate, California State Assembly, and even local mayoral offices) to determine which candidates are most sympathetic to our mission. In fact, this past Monday, SSVMS leadership met with four candidates for Assembly District 6 to discuss pressing issues for physicians and patients. To get more involved in our grassroots efforts, please contact Michele Onatanian, our Physician Relations Manager, at monatanian@ssvms.org. Thank you, J.
