SSV Medical Society News - 2023 - Volume 12 - Issue 06 Mistreatment of Physicians and What We are Doing About It Upcoming Events, Latest News, and More MEDICAL SOCIETY NEWS STAY CURRENT WITH IMPORTANT MEMBER-ONLY NEWS AND INFORMATION THANK YOU FOR YOUR SSVMS/CMA MEMBERSHIP PRESIDENT'S MESSAGE Physician Abuse Our Joy of Medicine program regularly collects data on physician burnout in our area. You can see the most recent results here. None of what we found will surprise you – physician burnout is significant and hurting our community. This year, though, we also asked about physicians experiencing violence and mistreatment. The survey indicated that 39% of respondents were mistreated over the past year, including 31% receiving abuse or threats from patients and their families. The reports are horrendous. We have no intention of allowing that to go unaddressed. With that in mind, we’re compiling your stories of workplace violence, abuse, and/or mistreatment to establish a region-wide zero-tolerance violence policy. Your experiences will be collected anonymously and we ask that you change any identifying information. To share your stories with SSVMS, please click here. Thank you! J.
