SSV Medical Society News - 2022 - Volume 11 - Issue 11 Upcoming Events, Latest News, and More MEDICAL SOCIETY NEWS STAY CURRENT WITH IMPORTANT MEMBER-ONLY NEWS AND INFORMATION. THANK YOU FOR YOUR SSVMS/CMA MEMBERSHIP CEO'S MESSAGE Medi-Cal Restructuring and You Changes are coming to Medi-Cal and your patients may have some questions. On January 1, 2023, Medi-Cal health coverage in Sacramento, El Dorado, and Placer counties will change from Fee-For-Service (FFS) Medi-Cal to Medi-Cal Managed Care (Yolo County is already a two-plan county). Dual-eligible beneficiaries will need to choose and enroll in a Medi-Cal plan for their Medi-Cal benefits. This change does not impact these patients’ ability to access their current Medicare providers – Medicare providers do not have to be enrolled in the patient’s Medi-Cal managed care plan network to continue billing Medi-Cal for the coinsurance. Patients will begin receiving notices in the next week. If you provide care to a dual-eligible patient and are a Medicare provider, coinsurance claims should be sent to the patient’s Medi-Cal plan instead of to the Department of Health Care Services (state Medi-Cal agency) starting on January 1, 2023. Again, the Medicare provider does not have to be enrolled in the Medi-Cal plan network to submit this coinsurance claim. The patient’s choice of a Medi-Cal plan depends on their county of residence and whether they are enrolled in a Medicare Advantage plan. Patients can learn more about their choices here or call DHCS at 1-800-430-4263. Aileen E.
