SSV Medical Society News - 2021 - Volume 10 - Issue 10 Call for Award Nominations, Blood Drive, and the Latest News from SSVMS Upcoming Events, Latest News, and more. Medical Society News October 2021 Greetings! It's really easy to be overwhelmed right now. There's no sense in pretending there's not. This makes it even more important to focus on our own well-being to ensure we can keep the joy of our profession alive. Last weekend, we worked to do just that as we hosted our Fifth Annual Joy of Medicine Summit. If you weren't able to virtually join us that day, you can watch the sessions at your leisure here: Does Anyone Have A Case? The Balint Group Experience, by Rochelle Frank, MD The Psychology of Wellness, by Amy Ahlfeld, PsyD Overcoming Toxic Stress: Biography of a Wounded Healer, by Caroline Giroux, MD I also recommend you wow yourself with the magic show put on by medical student Alan Chien. For me, something that keeps me going is this: it may sometimes feel like we aren't getting through to anyone as the pandemic continues. But nearly 66% of eligible Sacramento County residents are vaccinated, nearly 68% in Yolo County, 62% in El Dorado County, and California's transmission rate is dropping. Most people are listening and most people are taking appropriate action. Remember to use your free resiliency consultations through the Joy of Medicine! Learn about them here.
